Golf Outing Fundraiser

The 2017 Golf Outing, held on Monday, July 17th at the Salem Hills Golf Course, was a great success. Thank you to Costco for their donation of trail mix for our golfers.

With the 20th Annual Tee Off Golf Outing behind us, it is important to remember our goal to the community. In the 30 years that Active Faith has been serving the area, we continued to provide long term and temporary assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times in hopes of returning them to the independent pursuit of their life's goals.

Thank you to Nick who had his friends bring food, socks, and underwear for his 8th birthday instead of gifts for himself. Thanks for thinking about the kids in South Lyon that don't have a lot.

Thank you to our sweet volunteer angel who revived our planter boxes with Pam Tekieli Hewison.

Postal Food Drive

The annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger®Food Drive, on May 13 was a great success! Community members placed non perishable food items at their mailbox for pick up by local postal carriers. This event is designed to help replenish local food pantries in the communities they serve.

Throughout the community mail carriers picked up food and delivered it to Active Faith. We would like to thank the community for their donations and the local carriers who picked up and delivered over six tons of food to Active Faith that day.

In 2017, during the postal drive, Active Faith received a total of 14,193.3 pounds of donated food. After removing the out dated products, Active Faith was able to add 12,924.3 pounds of food to their pantry shelves.

On Monday, April 24, Oakland County Michigan Works came to the Active Faith Distribution Day. Strike Out Hunger

The March 26th Strike Out Hunger fundraiser was a GREAT success.  A whopping $7,963.24 was raised during this event. Thank you to all the family members and their friends that registered and participated in this year’s Strike-Out-Hunger event at the Pinz Bowling center in South Lyon, Michigan. All proceeds from this event went to support Active Faith, our local community food pantry. The cost per lane was $100 (up to 5 people) and included a large pizza, soft drink, bowling shoes, and as many games as you and your teammates could play between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. A prize was given for the “best dressed team”.

A 50/50 drawing and a silent auction with several beautiful gift baskets were donated by many generous business owners and individuals from South Lyon and the surrounding community.

If you missed the event this year, make sure you sign up for Strike Out Hunger in 2018!

TESTIMONIALS

“I want to thank Active Faith from the bottom of my heart for helping my brother and his family. They needed to move from their home quickly and could not take anything with them, a situation out of their control. Active Faith stepped in and made sure they had what they needed. My brother was on kidney dialysis, 3 times a week making him unable to work. Because he moved into a new place and now has some furniture and other things they needed, he is now able to be put on the transplant list. Active Faith, you are truly a blessing.”  - a client’s sister

IN MEMORY OF

Our sister in Faith, Clarice (Babe) French was called home on December 27, 2016. Babe volunteered at Active Faith for many years in clothing. We will miss her.
