Active Faith

Getting in the holiday spirit, these girls went door to door singing Christmas carols to raise money for Active Faith. Thank you for your time and talent to help those in need.

Munch Supply Company donated 227.5 pounds of food to Active Faith. Donating every year during the holidays is something that Munch Supply Company does every year. Thank you for your generosity.

Thank you to Salem Elementary (first picture) for donating 342 pounds of food and to the South Lyon United Women's Lacrosse team (second picture) that brought in 732 pounds of food for our shelves.

November 11, 2017 Scout Food Drive

On November 11, 2017 the Scouts collected over 5,000 pounds of non-perishable food items from South Lyon community members. With the extra food Active Faith will be able to feed approximately 120 families. Thank you to the Scouts for their hard work and for the communities donations. Additional donations can be made at local grocery stores.

Active Faith Community Services 30th Anniversary Celebration

Active Faith celebrated their 30th anniversary on October 21st with and open house for residents and community members.  Michigan Senator Mike Kowell was in attendance to deliver a Special Tribute recognizing Active Faith's individual success and its positive influence in and around the South Lyon community.

Members of the SLU Lacrosse team really enjoyed serving the community through Active Faith and preparing for the 30 year celebration! Newly painted walls and a clean up of the distribution area were the projects for the day. Thank you for all of your hard work and helping Active Faith prepare for their BIG 30th anniversary event that was held on October 21st.

Golf Outing Fundraiser

The 2017 Golf Outing, held on Monday, July 17th at the Salem Hills Golf Course, was a great success. Thank you to Costco for their donation of trail mix for our golfers.

With the 20th Annual Tee Off Golf Outing behind us, it is important to remember our goal to the community. In the 30 years that Active Faith has been serving the area, we continued to provide long term and temporary assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times in hopes of returning them to the independent pursuit of their life's goals.

Postal Food Drive

The annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger®Food Drive, on May 13 was a great success! Community members placed non perishable food items at their mailbox for pick up by local postal carriers. This event is designed to help replenish local food pantries in the communities they serve.

Throughout the community mail carriers picked up food and delivered it to Active Faith. We would like to thank the community for their donations and the local carriers who picked up and delivered over six tons of food to Active Faith that day.

In 2017, during the postal drive, Active Faith received a total of 14,193.3 pounds of donated food. After removing the out dated products, Active Faith was able to add 12,924.3 pounds of food to their pantry shelves.

Strike Out Hunger

The March 4th Strike Out Hunger fundraiser was a GREAT success. A whopping $5,084.15 was raised during this event. Thank you to all the family members and their friends that registered and participated in this year’s Strike-Out-Hunger event at the Pinz Bowling center in South Lyon, Michigan. All proceeds from this event went to support Active Faith, our local community food pantry. The cost per lane was $100 (up to 5 people) and included a large pizza, soft drink, bowling shoes, and as many games as you and your teammates could play between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. A prize was given for the “best dressed team”.
A 50/50 drawing and a silent auction with several beautiful gift baskets were donated by many generous business owners and individuals from South Lyon and the surrounding community.
If you missed the event this year, make sure you sign up for Strike Out Hunger in 2019!

"I'm very grateful for your organization; I've recently fallen on hard times and a friend told me about your assistance as a local resource. I'm feeling more confident and like myself now that I have food in the house and those food insecurities are not taking over my thoughts. I am so very very grateful. I enjoy taking pictures of food and after washing up some of the amazing produce I was able to get from your organization today I took the photo that I have attached."
